About the Illustrator / Designer
Dave Chandler spent the better part of his early childhood keeping plastic model airplane companies in business. His attraction for aircraft led to soloing at 16 and sketching planes in just about every class except P.E.
As fate would have it, the chance to fly fixed or rotary wing with the U.S. Army didn’t materialize due to medical deferments. Returning from a tour in Vietnam with the Artillery he pursued extensive training in Art and technical drawing. After working several years designing for sign and textile imprinters, Dave converted to C.A.D. illustration and created his "Best in the Bush" aircraft collection. Since 1986 he has created over 200 aircraft designs.
Dave has traveled to 41 countries and enjoys about any outdoor activity he can share with his wife Bonnie, son Brian and daughter Kelsey. He hopes to get back into flying, acquire a Helio Courier and do some serious low level cross-country visiting friends/clients.
Dave is a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the Confederate Air Force (CAF), EAA, and War birds (Oshkosh) and hopes to either join or someway support the many aircraft museums worldwide.
AERO-GRAFIX Philosophy and Goals
All AERO-GRAFIX designs are the property of Dave Chandler dba AERO-GRAFIX / Hot Hats. They are available as custom/modified designs at little or no design fees on any products produced by AERO-GRAFIX. We like to think of them as "modular" designs that through computer manipulation can be easily stylized for our clients without involving nebulous design contracts and/or astronomical art fees. We are committed to providing aircraft enthusiasts with renditions of the aircraft they most admire as opposed to offering designs of aircraft that are simply the most popular or the best sellers. We realize that there are many Americans and people around the world who have taken great pride designing, engineering, manufacturing, flying, crewing, maintaining and restoring aircraft from WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, the Cold War, Desert Storm to the present day.
A Tribute to Aircraft Restorers
"Aerospace museums, nonprofit foundations and private individuals whose restored aircraft fly throughout the United States on educational and/or entertainment missions are the reason AERO-GRAFIX, exists. In ten years of operating this company I have found all my clients to be honest, helpful and just plain good Americans! Nothing is better than doing business with people who truly enjoy the nature of their work. I would encourage every U.S. citizen to visit these institutions and contribute in any way to the preservation of historical aircraft."
